Anyway, I love Wellfest because those days bring out the best in me. I mean, look at what I got done~ I’ve never drawn a full picture at school before…such was the extent of my boredom. I would rant about the utter insanity of the speakers who were brought in (to ‘inspire’ us, no doubt) since one of them was a 12-year old “entrepeneur” and the other, a highly fashionable designer (I laughed at his clothes even before he revealed his passion for fashion) who used shirts to raise money for … kids in Nepal? Crap wait what was it again? Kids whose parents don’t show up for their birthday? Hm. I guess the cause was lost in translation. “LIKE. yeah,” said the boy speaker. (At least Kate talked and I was all YAY KATE YAY.) … but I WILL REFRAIN from such a rant because I am a civil, calm, and cool person. Clearly, I did not just do the cliche thing where I pretend I don’t know that I’m discussing the topic I said I would avoid.

And now, this is where I say that I am too sarcastic for my own good. A wise man once told me SARCASM IS THE REFUGE OF THE WEAK and therefore, I promise to keep it to a minimum from now on.

In any case, the point of the post was to show you all how productive Wellfest was and indeed, it was productive. You can ask cult member Hilary for confirmation. She was relaxed like a pile of dough cuz she smartly chose yoga as her event =.= I got to play percussion instruments for 10 minutes. AHEM, getting sidetracked. Point is, I drew this during one of the speaker thingamabobbers and I just wanted to share  it with evellyone. BECAUSE SOUL EATER IS THE BEST AND I’M ASIBHBAWOIERHGOSIBHR OVER IT atm. ^______^ constructive criticism pls.

Details on drawing [Warning- Heavily Soul-Eater-based explanation]: Basically, it’s supposed to be loosely based off of Death the Kid (the Honourable Shinigami’-sama’s son). Originally, I intended it to be a girl version of him (*insert Agnes going TRAP TRAP TRAP*) but I reconsidered since I figured a girl version would look more like him/have more similar clothing. So now, she can be like…Kid-kun’s little sister or what have you. I did, however, try to incorporate elements of Kid-san such as the stripes on the hair (yes, I’m missing some but w/e ), stripes on the shirt and the shinigami neckpiece which is LEGIT ON DEATH THE KID. I also tried to put in other aspects of symmetry – the dual blade, buttons on the shirt, ribbon stuffs. Oh, about the ribbons/strings/BIAWROGIHAWG sorry they don’t look like ribbons…I don’t know HOW to draw ribbons that weren’t SOGIRLYOMGLYKYEAH and I also wanted to make them more in the style of the Soul Eater anime (haha epic fail with that. anyway..) which is more structured and sharp/less flowing hair and clothes. The buttons I took from Maka’s outfit. I thought a Kid-kun knockoff should also have straight hair since it’s more symmetrical that way, right? Oh right, more stuff inspired by Maka – If you haven’t noticed already, I sort of stuck in her scythe weapon but just make it smaller and put two blades on either end of the stick. Actually, I’m pretty sure that’s a real type of Chinese weapon or something. The Chinese have thought of everything anyway, right? XD Jks. One more thing – I didn’t draw it in blue…in case you were wondering. I just thought it looked cooler that way so I played around with the colour tint/temp until I got the right blue. Yups. Hope you like it. ^o^

Now, I was going to blog about nothing and what it means but ALAS, such a post is beyond me. I therefore resort to post topic #2 – random stuff. Maybe I’ll throw in a little nod of the head to grads and mother-daughter luncheon because Jackie mentioned it in her wordpress.

1. I like wongfu. A lot. About 3/4 as much as Hilary likes them. For those of you who are confuzzled by this concept…that’s a lot. A LOT A LOT. So anyway, I wanted to point out, in case you haven’t already noticed, that Phil almost always ‘hogs’ the camera. I wouldn’t really like to say he ‘hogs’ it since that word instills in our minds the picture of a fugly, mottled, odorous, snorting pig…but which is besides the point <- that was such a bad sentence. In any case, Wes and Ted are always in the background gesturing wildly and making the viewers laugh. I wonder if those two don’t really like Phil because he’s regarded as a bit of an attention-seeker.

2. Apparently, the perks of a grad inclue: a) the dirtying of the grad common room, b) the mentality that we own the school, c) wearing grad sweatshirts, d) ‘making a difference’ in the school by intimidating little gr 7s who are brainless enough to think that grads are DA WORLD (i think i would’ve been included in that category when i was 7er. too bad i wasn’t a 76er *sigh*), and e) assassination of a fellow graduate. I don’t know the proper assassination techniques. Am I supposed to sneak up on them and knife them in the back? Slash their throats? Send a pretty little letter filled with poisonous gas and Monokuroboo stationery? (I’m going to keep going) Show off my pro ninja skillages by whipping out my shruikens? Do pro WANTED moves while my victim, who is undoubtedly walking in the HC halls listening to “time to say goodbye” on her unblemished white iPod and not expecting it to be splattered with ketchup in the next minute? That was a long question. THE ANSWER, my friends, is blowing in the wind. However, I think I’ll just, you know, take her aside under the false pretense (ha, song by RJA. I think.) of having to talk to her about something and hten…..LET IT RIP. No. Not gas, Alfred, Justin. No, not a Spongebob squeal, Hilary. And NO, NOT LULU’S GAY LOVE FOR HIS DOUCHEBAG OF A FRIEND. I shall let the casual words “FRY LIKE BACON, YOU LITTLE FRESHMEN” slip out of my mouth and watch as my former classmate falls to the ground, twitching in agony, ketchup spewing out onto her white, white iPod. =D

by the way, I forgot the actual words but yes, we do need to say that in order to assassinate our victim. Hilary knows my victim and uhhhh it’ll be interesting. I’ll fill you in on it.

3. Celebration Sat is coming up next saturday. Who’s coming?

4. Hilary, Sonja, Ruby. Ruby, Sonja, Megan. Hilary, Ruby, Megan. The question was: how (hilary, look! I didn’t capitalize after my colon XD) many different combinations (no repetitions) are there if four students (Hilary, Sonja, Ruby, and Megan) of which only three of them can ever be in the same class? That was a badly phrased question but you get my point. We all have classes with each other but there is no one class which we all share (Hilary pointed this out on Friday). hahaahhaha sad.

During U of T camp

It’s been quite a while since I last posted in May (haha) annnnd a lot has happened since then. Obviously, we all pushed through exam period and emerged with grimaces. Then it was into the gloriously humid and disgusting summer and some of us found “A WHOLE NEW WORRRRLLLDDDDD *cue Aladdin and Jasmine in background* with new peeps and good friends” in camp/summer adventures. (Others, like Sonii-kun, spent their time MAKING MONEYYY YAYYYY XD) …and then the rest ….ahh I don’t know what you guys did. (though I know what AGGIE WAS DOING! =D)

Um. I don’t know why I wrote that. Presumably, some sort of summer summary (ah, alliteration…) will follow this post but that is for another night when I’m not stressing over the pains of sleeping early for 7am biology classes. THIS POST was supposed to be a simple um..post..about an idea that we’ve probably all arrived at during some point in our lives.

Right so we’re all back at school worrying about our Gr.12 marks, some more than others. In a couple days (or next week =D) we’ll start studying our asses off to try and fulfill some mark requirement for our dream universities but really, what’s the point of all of this? I mean, we make it into whatever uni, do our undergrad, do a post-grad – possibly a masters but most probably Med SKOOOOL (for some peab kids), and a select few will decide to do a doctorate. Then, we journey out into the “real world” and proceed to work, start a family (perhaps), finally retire, and hope that our dear offspring will still take the time to care for us as we make the transition from house to old age home (YEE HONG FTWWWWWWWW).

Then, we die.

annnd there you have it. So, if we’re all going to return to dust (or whatever the expression is) and end up in the same way as everyone else, then why worry so much about academics? Maybe it’s ‘cuz we’re all Athenians (ah…a reference to english class.. ewww) and want to contribute to society? haah that’s sort of a joke.

Anyway, I always end up thinking about this kind of stuff when I’m screwed studying for a test..and then I get all pissed/confused. To me, it seems that most of us want to do the best we can in order to get a good job which serves it purpose for us to live a luxurious or at least comfortable life….soo does this mean we’re all greedy bastards who don’t actually care about benefitting society and instead are focused on money? I don’t know if living comfortably is the same as greed but yeeah….

A short, hopefully thought-provoking response to Jlam’s post about parents (Tokyo Tower…)

I found this quote on a site for quotes. Who the hell reads that kind of shit? Apparently I do. Anyway, here goes (I sort of had to paraphrase. I can’t find the exact quote): Adults only ask what children want to become because they want to live through their [the child's] dreams.

slash that didn’t encompass the meaning AT ALL. Basically I remember it talking about how adults ask kids about their future careers because their own dreams were quashed. So yes, they do want to live through your dreams – HOLD THEM TIGHT – since they’re a)missing their childhood and b) FAILURES BECAUSE THEY COULDN’T REALISE THEIR DREAM. lol jks.

On a more serious note, I’d say that Justin has a valid point saying that we don’t appreciate our parents nearly enough. However, you’re focusing on a specific genre of parents. Perhaps this is just the asian parent? Then again, some parents also want you to do well out of their own want for prestige or whatever you might call it. It pretty much goes like this: Parents have a child. Child does well in school. Asian communities or just communities in general appreciate said child and exult her/him for their genius-ness. The parents are also given much respect for rearing this well-spoken, seemingly intelligent child. In some countries (cough japan cough) the child HAS to do well or else their family name is shot. HARSH but true. Sounds slightly selfish to me though I suppose the greater aim is for your child to do well. I guess I’m just saying – how would one know (in certain situations) whether the parent is really rooting for their child to get a good education or whether they are only interested in making you a better genius for their own benefit.

The other thing is that it seems like the parents/family you speak of would only happen in an ideal world. I think us kids don’t show their luvu luvu for their parents because of just that. We’re kids. On top of that, we’re teens. Teens just don’t give a damn about anything else other than themselves – we’ve just reached that stage where we’re trying to “find ourselves” and explore shit. Most of us regard our parents as support pillars and friends..but in the background. Generally, human nature is to be selfish anyway =.=. This was a bad ramble. oops. lol

One more thing: some parents just go too far. I understand – they love their kids, want to do everything for them, including their assignments, want to get them involved in every single petty thing, and PUSH THEIR KIDS UNTIL THEY BURN OUT AND SHrIVEL UP ON THE SIDEWALK LIKE FRIED CRITTERS.

aHem. that was too graphic maybe but the point is, certain parents are too pushy. It’s sort of hard to go “I just wanted to thank you for everything you’ve done for me, Mom/Dad” when they’re ferrying you to (and worrying about) a violin lesson at 5, a math session at 6, a piano lesson at 7, and swim practice at 8. And that’s taking it mildly. It prolly goes a little more like this: “Hey Mom..I just wanted to say -” “*insert name here*-ah. Did you eat dinner yet? How was school? No wait. What did you get on that test? Let’s go buy you some enrichment books..” You can’t breathe, much less say anything. Your head would probably pop off. I’m not speaking from experience but I’ve just heard of many kids who do so much stuff they sorta die.

OH and same goes for parents who don’t give you TIME for your head to pop off. They bite it off for everything you do, whether it’s right or wrong. If it’s wrong, you get shit. If it’s right, they tell you that you could have done it this way (because it’s faster) and that you were wrong for doing it that way even if you were right. And then you might get diarrhea. Again, in our defense, it’s hard to say “I love you” or whatnot when your parentals are chewing your neck. It’s sorta painful and obviously you would NOT feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Besides, your vocal cords are getting torn to shreds. If they make you feel like crap, how would you feel? Not in a thankful mood, I’ll bet. For us band folk…imagine ..that person… She yells at us, makes us feel shitty and probably because she wants us to become a better band (and clearly not for her own creds. COURSE NOT) but do you feel thankful towards her? NO. Okay maybe twice. Once at MusicFest (if you get gold) and once at some other warm and fuzzy band moment because it’s bound to happen. But otherwise, there really isn’t any allowance for those fuzzy feelings.

When i say that, it sounds like the person’s drunk. FUZZY FEELINGS. MY TOES FEEL FUZZY GUYS.

Anyway…I didn’t really touch on Justin’s topic because he was talking about the bigger picture I suppose. I zoomed in on specific instances where it wouldn’t be true.

In any case, mother’s day is today so show some LOVE, kay? It’s a perfect opportunity.

Funnily, she actually mentioned that it was a strange schizophrenic phenomenon or something along those lines. HAHAHHAHAHAHA IS THAT NOT THE BEST THING EVER? It’s true though -Miley/Hannah IS a schizoid act. LOL those kids are going to be joining us in the mental institution soon..slash the Institute XD

3. Conformity & Asians- I just read a short something online about how conformity (style-wise) is celebrated in China and Japan. Is this true? O_o I just thought all those fobs in pacific mall dressed alike because a) all the clothes in pacific mall are mostly the same and b) the clothes in HK or whereever are all the same too. Obviously this is a microcosm of Japan/China because….well…Pacific mall is sort of where mostly Chinese peeps hang out and also because it’s clearly not big enough. But let’s just ignore the fact that I presented bad evidence. I’m being like Oka-san on one of his non-supporting-evidence-when-talking-about-stuff days XD jks.

I know I talked about that earlier in some blog…but how can the author of whatever thing he/she posted online say that just about Asians? I think the authors are American or Canadian …. so aren’t we all conformists here in some way or another? Geez. Don’t be racist peoples. Just because they SAY they value individualism, doesn’t mean it exists. Since they talk about style I guess I’ll have to stick to that…so you can pretty classify everyone into a few categories of style. that was wack grammar- 1. Prep (like REAL preps…not throw-on-a-polo-and-call-me-prep prep….) 2. Emo or Scene 3. Designer /Fashion Slave/ Fashionista 4. Surfer 5. Nerdy 6. Elegant-ish 7.old-lady style XD 8. A&F/Hollister/AE (I think they deserve their own category, don’t you? XD) and finally…9. the style where people think they’re dress unique except they really aren’t. These are the clothes where one would go “wow..that’s…interesting….weird…” Thing like … oh I dunno……a tie on top of a tank top + other random things? *cough Avril?*, a fedora on a girl with other random clothes, a formal dress with jeans underneath etc etc

Clearly the authors are blind to their own culture/country/whatever. Hah I just wanted to rant/have something substantial for you guys to read? meh

 DEEP SHIZ LIKE…photography. I really suck at TAKING photos (*cough my pictures are always slanted or something cough*) but I really DO love LOOKING at nice photos, preferably photos with clean lines or photos that have elements which play off each other, if you get my drift. It really gives me a sense of serenity (cheesy warning here..btw is that even correct?) and it’s just cool. Don’t you ever feel that way? I mean, it’s sorta like the world’s been frozen for one second. If there’s a person or animal or something in your picture, you can also get the emotions of the person right at that NANOSECOND. Plus good photography makes almost everything look awesome. Even your TRASH CAN can look like a million bucks. Okay. Maybe not if there are cockroaches and other digusting leggy insects infesting it. The point is that photography helps you see beautiful things in the world so be grateful, bitches. ADMIRE NICE PHOTOS. Like this one here.

I mean, it doesn’t even happen within real families- how could it happen within a family of friends?

the family may be a way to show our alliances since we can’t outwardly display them. i’m..not going to go into our family because it opens a big can of worms and may offend some viewers *flashes big sign*

what you said about people have emo issues which sorta crack up the group of friends is true though. from what i hear, certain people are acting rather immature and it’s sorta shitty. you know, if we could all just apologize and talk it out, things would be a helluva lot better. i mean, why are we ignoring one another? what happened…EMOTIONAL RAPE? jesus christ people, get real. out of everything that’s happened, no one’s done anything WRONG. it’s all just because we’re overly sensitive humans who are all so self-centered it’ll make you barf out that pop tart you had for breakfast. you know what else bugs me? everyone at one point in time or another always feels that the planets orbit around them.

and there we go. self centered little balls of meat that roll around planet earth. occassionally, we bump into other balls of meat and a self-centered-ness contest ensues. usually the ball of meat with tomato sauce wins. when you get into some kind of conflict, you always feel that the world revolves around you and nothing else matters except for your feelings. admit it, it’s happened to you. can’t we all just admit that we’re all selfish kids? some of us probably think about ourselves a lot more and that sorta messes up our group.

Yes, j talked about this a bit when he finished up his post but he never really blogged about it in full. i just wanted to start off the convo so hopefully other peeps (jlam, kuree, hil, RUBY…get a blog. please. your writing skillages and logic are too good to wasteon bio crap) could maybe discuss it? well if you really think about people who say they don’t conform, aren’t they conforming to the supposedly non-conformists group? the people in this group would probably be all the people who are saying that they are not conforming. also in this group, we have further divisions of people who are unknowingly conforming (on the outside and inside) to the non-conformist group. they might be those who are the weirdos, nerds, people who dress sorta weird, and overall, socially rejected. it’s not just the jocks and preps that are conformists. it’s only because they’re so loud about it. don’t you always see kids who are sorta in the ‘awkward’ group? we also have the alternative-ites, the socially accepted who have a “different outlook.” but aren’t we all lying to ourselves?

whether we like it or not, we will always look for patterns and categorize people. that’s just how our mind works. we should all just stop worrying about whether we are unique and start living for ourselves. hmm i wonder if we can ever just look at someone without thinking “this dude is emo” or “this girl is such a prep.” it’s probably not possible =P
